The Mardi Gras Endgame
posted on Wed, 02/17/2010 - 11:15So I hit The Frolic Room for the FatT uesdayL astCall. I rolled in at around 1:20. It was as weird as delightfully weird can be.
I was surprised and almost ashamed that Joel, our bartender had no idea of what was going on with Heaven and Hell literally passing the baton at that very moment on the premises. http://www.izocleanze.com/blog/happy-fat-tuesday-hello-ash-wednesday
I quickly reminded the people at the bar that it was their last 15 minutes of "fun-loving freedom" and that we had to step up the party a notch. I then coalesced two random unlikely groupings of old skool biz guys looking like Crockett and Tubbs drinking florescent martinis with 3 Gen-X flannel warriors doing serious beer-damage, laughing with straight faces. it was a blast. We all left a-smile.
I congratulate myself. i do declare that as of this moment, i have graduated the 'dangerous' part of my career as a party connoisseur. I realize that i've said that before, but i know that this is a new level. I'm not saying that i won't party from time to time, but here in ends the relatively extreme behavior that i have exhibited in the past. I'm done with the binge phenom, whether it be crappy food, wine, pot- From here on in, i am living a life full of balance.
When i wake up later today, Feb 17, i enter a 40-day process which will bridge me to the other side of balance and stability, one that can handle the full horizontal spectrum. I'm tired of the ups and downs. i am ready to cruise on the Transcendent level of balanced experience.
Here's the song that came on the Sirius Satellite Radio Classic Rock Deep Cuts station on my way down Beachwood Canyon in Hollywood, the lyrics of which were quite apropos for the moment- God speed, Yo:
Traffic- Pearly Queen
I bought a sequined suit from a pearly queen
And she could drink more wine than I'd ever seen
She had some gypsies' blood flowing through her feet
And when the time was right she said that I would meet
My destiny
I traveled round the world to find the sun
I couldn't stop myself from having fun
And then one day I met an Indian girl
And she made me forget this troubled world
We're living in
I had a strange dream. In my hair
I saw a pearly queen lying there
And all around her feet flowers bloomed
But they were made of silk and sequins two by two
