My Visit with Rehmannia, Tao Herbalist

On Day 6, I visited Rehmannia ‘Dean’ Thomas, esteemed Tao Herbalist and creator of the iZO Cleanze’s precious Chinese herbal teas, Kidney-cleanzing protein superfood, and fermented chlorella/miso heavy metal cleanzer supreme. Rehmannia is incredibly intuitive and skilled in the Taoist tradition of reading one’s tongue and pulse. From there he employs his herbalist skills he developed under the tutelage of Master Herbalist Ron Teeguarden, and he ascertains what kind of herbal tea formula would be perfect for the situation. This time around Dean read my pulse and came up with what he usually does for me: kidney stress. Apparently my renals are feelin’ the pressure from my adrenals which are all too often in ‘fight or flight’ mode, dealing with some stressful situation or another, over-working, etc.

It seems 2008 was a pretty stressful year for everyone. You can certainly read about my angst-ridden experience last year, compounded by the challenges of growing a small company in a severely contracting economy. It hasn’t been easy, but we’re making it, with a lot of hard work. I used to often wake up to ‘crisis’ where a VIP client is freaking out because they can’t find their cleanze bag at 6am. It’s understandable because we’re their only food supply. That kind of call wouldn’t really stress me out anymore, but it certainly did in the beginning when I hadn’t been through the drill of locating someone’s ‘lost’ bag. It’s almost always there. They just don’t see it until they look for it. And if for some rare reason the bag is no longer there, we always get a new delivery out by mid-morning.

Anyhow, the point is that my kidneys were feelin’ the pain, or in Tao herbalist-speak, they were yin and yang deficient. So Rehmannia put together a Chinese herbal formula specifically designed to support them. He used a lot of black herbs, because all black foods are apparently excellent for the kidneys. He even used his namesake herb, Rehmannia in the formula. I’ve been drinking this tasty potion for a few weeks now. I’ll be checking in with Dean soon to see how my kidneys are doing, and let you know the status.
