A True Start
posted on Wed, 01/06/2010 - 19:05So I broke the cleanze last night on Day 2. It happens. Sometimes, it’s just not the right time. And one needs to honor that with honesty and acceptance. There is no such thing as a false start. In my own personal cleanze world (and everybody’s is different because every Body is different), I allow for one, maybe two, solid food transgressions within the first couple of days on a cleanse, but they have to at least be on the healthy side, like fruit, salad or my favorite cleanze cheat food: Hummus.
It’s not quite solid, so it doesn’t take much digestion juju to make it go down, yet it satisfies the hunger. I know, I know, beans are harder to digest. Whatever. So, I had a bit of hummus on the evening of Day 1. No biggie, still on the cleanze in my mind. But then in the evening of Day 2, I just got so friggin hungry, and had given away my second iZO Pro (almond milk) that I reached for the hummus again. And then I was like ‘F#@! it’ and ate one of those ‘Raw Organic Food Bars’ and was officially off the cleanze.
A few other things lined up to pull me off. One is a Supper Club dinner party on Thursday night at the home of Dany Levy, the founder of Daily Candy. http://www.thesupperclubinc.com/ It’s going to be catered by my friend Jill Donenfeld’s company, The Dish’s Dish, an amazing private chef service that sends the chef to your home to make 5 days of whatever you like in your own kitchen. I tried it myself and i was delighted that they were able to make amazing raw, vegan food, just the way I like it with all my favorite ingredients, and nothing I didn’t like. And I am one finicky pain in the ass when it comes to food! www.thedishsdish.com
The other thing that excited me about starting Saturday is that I don’t feel that I did a proper ‘Before’ snapshot on this last cleanze. If I’m doing my job correctly, you will see the transformation in all its warts and glory. I may have just the perfect opportunity when my good doctor friend comes into town Friday afternoon for our weekend of school at the University of Santa Monica.
(I’m in an amazing program to get a Masters in Spiritual Psychology- more on that later!) She’s a Supercool Superkynd rockstar doctor that I’m hoping can run a few tests on me on camera. That would be fun. She doesn’t know about this breaking development yet, so fingers crossed.
Oh yeah, another reason to start this weekend is that our new website is going to be launched. It blows away the site that we have up there now. Well, actually, a lot of stuff on there now is from the new site design, but there will also be a whole new infrastructure that will make the site much easier to navigate. The point is that this will really invigorate me to write that daily blog which I had pretty much neglected during this 2-day mini-cleanze. I am really committing to daily updates as my job! Call me out if you don’t see me updating regularly.
Well, so there it is. I did gain some great benefits even from the brief 48-hour stint. I’m officially out of the HoliDaze of Wine and Roses, breaking the cycle of overindulgence of crappy food and wine with a flood of nourishment that my body hadn’t had in over 2 weeks while I was in NY. And I shat like a racehorse and lost almost 3 pounds. Yes, we talk about bowel movements in these parts. It’s just the way it is. Onward and Inward!
